In Bank PO and Clerk exams , 5 questions will be asked on jumbled sentences in which a paragraph is divided in to 6-8 sentences which are jumbled in random. These questions are designed by bank examiner to test your ability to analyse and evaluate relationship among the sentences and arrange them in proper logical order to build proper paragraph. When you read news paper daily or practice more paragraphs you will get to know how vocabulary changes with the flow of ideas and build up of paragraph around the central theme. Having strong grip on vocabulary will make your job very easy. However we are giving you 7 golden tips and strategy to be followed while solving para jumbled sentences which helps you a lot in exam.
1.Identification of Opening sentence is important to arrange further sentences in order. Usually the opening sentence introduces a person, place, Concept etc . This introductory sentence will most likely will be the first sentence.
2. Read the jumbled sentences once fast and identify the central theme(Main Theme) of the jumbled paragraph
3.When you come to know main theme, automatically the sequence of activities which would probably lead to completion of activity will be generated in your subconscious mind.Then to confirm, use special keywords in sentences like "connectives, pronouns, articles and adjectives."
4.Connectives: Words like "So, because, but, consequently, if , then, furthermore, moreover, besides, alternatively, besides, in fact, whenever, whatever, whoever, whereas"are called connective words. Sentences containing these connectives refer to previous sentences. So they can never be opening sentences.
5.Pronounces: Words like "he,she, him, his,her,it,them,their,they"are called Pronouns which refer to persons / things already introduced.Sentence containing these pronounces will follow after respective nouns. So these cannot also be opening sentence.
6. Articles: 'a' and 'an' are indefinite articles which are used while introducing something for the firs time and saying general facts. "The", and definite article is used in referring to person/thing already introduced.
7. To be more clever, eliminate the wrong options whenever you find two continuous sentences are found in wrong order which increases high chances of correct option being selected.
To summarize, first try to identify/know the main theme of the jumbled sentences, spot the opening sentence by using introductory sentence, take help of connectives to guess sequence of events and articles and pronouns to confirm the arrangement. After arrangement check and confirm whether the central idea of passage is said in a proper order. And use Elimination method to filter out wrong options.
