(1) India and UAE inked 9 bilateral agreements for cooperation in various sectors . These agreements were signed during 2nd day of Abu Dhabi Prince, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan visit to India.
- The 9 bilateral agreements include
a) MoU on Technical Cooperation in Cyber Space and combating cyber crime
b) MoU on Participation institutional investors in infrastructure investments
c) General Frame work agreement on renewable energy cooperation
d) MoU on exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purpose
e) MoU on Trade
f) MoU on Bilateral Currency swap agreement
g) MoU for bilateral cooperation in the insurance sector
h) Executive Programme for cultural cooperation
i) Letter of intent for skill development and recognition of qualifications
(2) Davinder Singh, Indian- origin lawyer becomes Vice-Chairman of International Chamber of Corporate responsibility and Anti-corruption.
Commerce (ICC ) commission on
- Davinder Singh is currently working as Chief Executive of Drew & Napier, who was also a MP of Singapore from 1988-2006.
(3) Union Railway ministry has launched 3 IT enabled apps to bring transparency in Indian Railways as part of Digital India, launched by Railway minster Suresh Prabhu.
- The 3 IT enabled applications (apps) are a) E-booking of disposable linen on trains b)Hand held terminals for TTEs and c) paperless unreserved tickets booking
(4) Karnataka mobile one m-governance model wins Gold Medal at World Government Summit
held in Dubai, which is received by Karnataka e-governance secretary Srivatsa Kirshna
- m-governance model of Karnataka is world's largest multimode mobile governance platform which offers 4,500 services onto single integrated platform that can be accessed on smart phones, web portal , sms .
(5)Wipro Ltd , India's 3rd largest IT exporter has acquired United States based HealthPlan Services for 460 million dollars as part of Wipro traditional "String of pearls" .
- This acquisition will help Wipro to participate in US health care insurance industry.
(6) Harinder Sindhu , an Indian origin Australian has been been appointed as Australian High Commissioner to India replacing Patrick Suckling. She is 2nd Indian rooted envoy to India with Indian roots after Peter Varghese.
- Prior to this appointment she was working as Career officer in Department of foreign affairs and trade.
